BAX Global, a $1.8 billion global transportation and supply chain management company, offers multimodal freight forwarding to business-to-business shippers worldwide. Many of the world’s largest corporations use BAX Global to manage their supply chain.

When BAX Global began researching a solution to file their Shippers Export Declarations (SED) with U.S. Customs, they chose XchangeDOX’s Automated Export Service (AES) mainly due to its centralized service center implementation and operation model.

"The most valuable aspects of the XchangeDOX service is its guaranteed delivery policy and the web enabled reporting capabilities and tools" says Bert Johnson, Director of International Operations at BAX. "No other solution gave us the value and ease of implementation that not only met our needs but exceeded them".

Mr. Johnson also states, that by using XchangeDOX’s centralized service to U.S. Customs, it has enabled them to remain in compliance with export regulations, has reduced errors, has improved operating efficiencies and has reduced the overall costs of filing the SED. This in turn has helped BAX Global to streamline document filing and management within the company, and has facilitated the export process with their customers.

MSAS Global Logistics (MSAS) is a full service global logistics provider, offering a wide range of service options for their clients. From their core capabilities in forwarding, customs brokerage, warehousing, distribution and materials management to their customized value added logistics programs; they can offer any type of logistics solution to their clients.

In late 1999, MSAS was in the process of researching the options for filing their Shipper's Export Declarations (SED's) with U.S. Customs and decided it made a great deal of business sense to choose the exDEX filing system. The selection of an independent service provider not only solved a very large computer related infrastructure issue but also offered them "firewall" protection against errors on submissions as well as compliance with all U.S. Customs export requirements, present and future.

They were also extremely pleased with the "back to back" link through the XchangeDOX server to U.S. Customs, which eliminates re-keying information already entered into their legacy system.

According to Ms. Alexandra Smith, Director of Risk Management and Compliance at MSAS, the service offered by XchangeDOX was a "lifesaver" for her company because it offered an easy to use information strategy. "We had a mandate to be up and running electronically with AES and were able to accomplish this in a matter of weeks instead of months by selecting the exDEX filing system", says Ms. Alexandra Smith of MSAS.
